Baadal Se Dvaar Se Nazar – William Rees Hofmann Sarod meets Viola in this unique music piece featuring William Rees Hofmann and Benedict Taylor. Baadal Dvaar se Nazar (A Glimpse Through the Cloud Door), is a work for sarod and viola exploring both tradition and solitude through the dhrupad idiom on the sarod, and openness and experimentation through explorations of consonance, dissonance, harmony, timbre, and resonance on the viola. Inspired by the soundtracks of the films of Mani Kaul, the piece is a new work rooted in Indian classical tradition yet which moves beyond and experiments with form. The Infinite Road – Kitha Balakrishna The Infinite Road is an enthralling carnatic violin concert piece featuring Kitha Balakrishna, who explores her identity and journey within her genre, by stepping away from the conventional rigid structure and expectation of recital in order to explore expression and make a statement. “I want to use traditional structure to draw the familiarity and convention, but I swiftly move away with progressions of notes that transpose me to my own reference – where I aim to engage the listener.” – Kitha Balakrishna.
