BEfriend is a registered charity established in 1994. The organisation provides one-to-one volunteer befriending to people within the London Borough of Ealing who are socially isolated because of physical, sensory, cognitive or psychological impairment.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will be visiting partially or completely housebound adults to chat or enjoy an activity providing their carer a short break. As Carers Short Breaks Volunteer you will make a positive impact by combating loneliness and social isolation, building a sense of community, and enhancing your communication and interpersonal skills.
Typical duties include:
- Planning and visiting the person assigned to you on a regular basis
- Develop a trusting and supportive relationship with the carer you are assigned to
- Completing monthly reports to keep Befriend updated about the visits and to raise any issues or concerns
- Respecting boundaries and confidentiality
Please note, this role require a DBS check and the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months
