Summary

I completed my nurse training at the Birmingham College of Nurse Education and held a number of posts in medicine and surgery before establishing the specialist urological nursing service in North Oxfordshire as a clinical nurse specialist employed by the Department of Urology in Oxford. Prior to entering education I served for four years as a Captain in the Reserve Army Medical Services and was deployed to Iraq in 2004.

I was Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Health and Social Care at Birmingham City University until 2015. As Principal Lecturer & Director of Practice Learning at the University of Bedfordshire, I provided academic leadership relating to practice learning across HCPC and NMC approved and commissioned healthcare courses across the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences until my appointment at 91影视University London in 2023.

Responsibility

As Reader & Department Director of Practice Education, I have a lead role for the development and implementation of practice education activities, encompassing all educational activity related to practice placements, work-based learning and campus-based clinical practice experience. I am committed to the development and delivery of world class education by fostering new sources of research funding, increasing the level of research income whilst enhancing quality and impact.

I work closely with practice education academics across all programmes within the department, in collaboration with the Health Partnerships and Placements team. I am committed to supporting the development of the College’s practice education goals, including a sustainable increase in the number of placement opportunities, placement specialities and the enhancement of academic quality of practice education; including the geographical range of placements (UK & Internationally) in alignment with PSRB and employer requirements.
