Summary

 joined the university in early 2022 as a Technical Specialist – Clinical Simulation, and ended the year as a Principal Technical Specialist. In 2023 Sam took on the additional role of Department Director Simulation and Skills devlopment.

is an accomplished and high-achieving professional with over 18 years of experience in education, primarily in simulation-based education, notably bridging the gap between technical and academic aspects. Sam joined the university as a Technical Specialist – Clinical Simulation and quickly progressed to Principal Technical Specialist. Currently, Sam serves as the Department Director of Simulation and Skills Development.

Before joining 91Ó°ÊÓUniversity London, Sam worked as a Technical Manager (Health Care Skills & Simulation) across the campuses at Buckinghamshire New University, leading a team of Technicians.

Sam has an MSc in Medical and Healthcare Simulation; is a Fellow of the ; a professional member of the  and a Chartered Scientist with The Science Council.  Sam is also a National Executive Committee member of the professional body the , being the first technician to hold this post, and leads on all things technician. 

Passionate about the use of innovative teaching techniques to enhance student learning, Sam is also skilled in . As a trained casualty Make-Up Artist, Sam applies these skills to add another layer of realism to simulations, fully immersing students in their sessions.

As a former winner in the innovation category, Sam was delighted to have been asked to be a judge at this years

Sam completed the Leadership programme for women and graduated from the inaugural programme for women in technical leadership. Additionally, Sam is a Designated Safeguarding Officer.
