Being a higher education academic since 1997 makes me passionate about accounting as a research stream and as teaching and learning as a discipline. I am very fortunate to have been involved in a variety of teaching and learning activities since then. Although I am a class teacher I am also a research lover. My innovation in teaching showed the triangulation of the use of research teaching practise which should be used in teaching any accounting module. This has been reflected in teaching of the practical modules as management accounting for planning and control and management accounting for decision making, where I did have links between the research, theory and practise. I am also pleased to be a successful PhD principle supervisor for a number of students from the start of their PhD journeys until their destinations for PhD holders. During those 24 years I have become engaged in the academic and social life as an accounting academic @ a number of Universities. My research is mainly concerned about putting accounting as a core focus combined with teaching learning strategies within the higher education section, or/and operation management or/and research methodology. This multidisciplinary approach enabled me to publish in highly rated journals which have high a impact factor. I have written a number of academic papers, most of which have been published in highly rated journals. I also a reviewer at a number of journals as Journal of Enterprise Management. Moreover, I have been appointed as an External Examiner to peer institutions for their UG and PG programmes in Business and Management. I am very committed to BBS. I have been working now for 14 years in BBS, I have engaged in the different activities arranged by the school and by the University. I have done the upmost in the different aspects; teaching and learning, research, external esteem and inviting famous accounting speakers. Moreover, I am enjoy working within a collegial environment. I am confident that the skills I possess, along with my enthusiasm and willingness to pursue my targets, enable me to become an effective member of staff at BBS. I am a professional certified accountant with a 20-year career, teaching accounting in Universities, underpinned by a year teaching in Further Education, during which time I was able to develop the basic pedagogic techniques that have developed and informed my subsequent teaching. My long and varied experience has enabled me to develop innovative approaches to teaching in order to illustrate abstract concepts across the learning spectrum, on both academic and professional courses. In 2006 I developed an interest in academic research and its role in informing work based practice. Therefore in 2006 I embarked on a research exercise to determine ‘selective and biased speech acts in corporate governance communication’. More recently I have been involved in undertaking action research into the use of video in inclusive teaching. After developing close links with the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) and in response to demands from industry, I led a small team that designed, developed and managed a new degree in Credit Management. I have undertaken many examination and moderation positions during my career, in particular as Examiner for a new module for the CICM’s professional programme (Financial Analysis). I am a member of the British Accounting & Finance Association (BAFA) and undertake continuing professional development as required by my professional body, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
